Containerised UPS Solution
Carter Sullivan was commissioned to deliver a fully engineered containerised UPS solution for a secure site in South West England. The solution had to meet stringent technical and logistical demands, offering mobility, structural durability, and safety in a high-security, operational environment.
The project involved delivery to a live, secure site with strict access controls and multiple ongoing construction activities. To minimise disruption and ensure safety, delivery and installation had to be carefully coordinated with other on-site works and scheduled during pre-approved windows.
Additionally, the UPS container required elevated mounting and safe operator access, necessitating the design and supply of a custom steel leg support structure, along with an access gantry and steps.
Carter Sullivan supplied and delivered a bespoke 40ft High Cube ISO container, complete with all structural, electrical, and ventilation features required for long-term, resilient UPS operation.
Container Structure & Access
- 40ft High Cube ISO container
- Lock shrouds and locks on all doors to meet MOD security standards
- Reinforced structural support around all apertures and cable entry points
- Additional side rail reinforcements to maintain integrity beneath doors and louvres
- Installed on custom-fabricated steel legs
- Access gantry and stair set supplied for safe and compliant operator entry
- Doors fitted with steel louvres backed by anti-vermin wire mesh
- Two large 1.8m x 2.6m steel louvres for natural airflow
- Chequer plate flooring (4.5mm over plain), fully welded and painted
- Removable LV cable access covers for ease of installation and maintenance
- Internal subfloor ducting system with ladder-frame for cable routing
- 100mm Rockwool RWA45 insulation below floor with 0.9mm galvanized steel sheet closure
Delivery & Coordination
The completed unit was delivered using specialist transport and positioned by crane lift, overseen entirely by Carter Sullivan’s in-house project team.
Given the high-security nature of the site, all delivery activities were scheduled in advance and coordinated with other site operations to prevent disruption. Strict access protocols were adhered to throughout the process.
- Project delivered safely and on time
- Crane lift completed in coordination with live site operations
- Installed on engineered steel legs with safe access gantry and steps
- UPS container fully self-contained and secure for long-term operation
- Delivered to MOD standards for safety, resilience, and mobility
This project showcases The Carter Sullivan Way in action:
- In-house project management
- CDM compliance and strict health & safety standards
- Full coordination with client teams
- Precision, planning, and performance, without compromise
