Airport Generator Installation

Client Airport Generator Installation

Power Protection When It Matters Most

Carter Sullivan was selected to supply and install a standby generator system to support a newly established fire station at a provincial airport. Given the crucial nature of the fire station's operations in ensuring the safety and security of the entire airport complex, we were entrusted with delivering a power solution that would guarantee continuous, reliable power, especially during emergencies. Our role was to provide a turn-key, fully managed solution, ensuring zero disruption to existing airport operations and seamless integration into the site’s established infrastructure, all delivered on time, on budget, and without compromise.

Project Overview
  • Client: Provincial Airport
  • Location: Midlands
  • Scope: Standby Generator Supply, Installation, and Integration
  • Timeline: 8 Weeks
  • Delivery: Turn-key by Carter Sullivan in-house team
Generator Configuration & Capacity

To bolster the fire station’s power resilience, we supplied and installed:

  • 1x Kohler 110kVA Standby Generator
  • 1x Riello 20kW UPS

These systems were critical for powering the fire station’s life-saving equipment, communication systems, and essential IT infrastructure, ensuring that the station could operate seamlessly during any power interruption.

The generator provided reliable power to the entire fire station facility, the Riello UPS system, paired with the generator, ensured uninterrupted power to the IT and communication systems, which are crucial for coordinating emergency responses.

The electrical installation required us to install an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), along with a dedicated “Critical Power” distribution panel for the UPS-supported circuits, ensuring all critical systems would seamlessly transition to backup power without delay.

As NICEIC approved contractors, our team designed, installed, and tested the system to BS7671 standards, ensuring complete electrical safety and compliance.

Testing & Commissioning – Built to Perform

We oversaw all validation phases, ensuring that the generator and UPS systems met performance and compliance standards:

  • UPS & Generator Commissioning
  • Load Bank Testing
  • Client Training & Familiarisation
  • NICEIC Electrical Certification

Our commissioning team carried out thorough testing and ensured that all systems were ready to support mission-critical loads from day one. The airport fire station could count on the system’s reliability and performance, even in the most demanding situations.

In-House Expertise. Assured Quality.

This project was delivered entirely by Carter Sullivan’s in-house team, from project management and on-site installation to commissioning and testing, ensuring full accountability and the highest standards throughout.

Our team’s expertise in power protection was integral to the success of this installation. With a commitment to Power Protection, without compromise, we designed, implemented, and validated a system that met the critical needs of the fire station, ensuring that it could perform when it mattered most.

Results & Outcomes
  • Delivered on time and within budget
  • Seamless integration with existing airport infrastructure
  • Scalable architecture for future power upgrades
  • Full confidence in the fire station’s operational continuity, even during power failures
  • Enhanced resilience for mission-critical systems

By ensuring continuous and reliable power, we’ve helped the airport fire station maintain operational readiness at all times. With Carter Sullivan, the airport can trust that its power protection systems are built to last, ensuring the safety and security of all those who depend on it.
